وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ 191 النِّســاء

وَاسْتَغْفِرِ اللَّهَ إِنَّ اللَّهَ كَانَ غَفُورًا رَحِيمًا ﴿۱۰۶﴾ وَلَا تُجَادِلْ عَنِ الَّذِينَ يَخْتَانُونَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ مَنْ كَانَ خَوَّانًا أَثِيمًا ﴿۱۰۷﴾ يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ النَّاسِ وَلَا يَسْتَخْفُونَ مِنَ اللَّهِ وَهُوَ مَعَهُمْ إِذْ يُبَيِّتُونَ مَا لَا يَرْضَى مِنَ الْقَوْلِ وَكَانَ اللَّهُ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطًا ﴿۱۰۸﴾ هَا أَنْتُمْ هَؤُلَاءِ جَادَلْتُمْ عَنْهُمْ فِي الْحَيَاةِ الدُّنْيَا فَمَنْ يُجَادِلُ اللَّهَ عَنْهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَمْ مَنْ يَكُونُ عَلَيْهِمْ وَكِيلًا ﴿۱۰۹﴾

﴾106﴿ Wastaghfiril laaha innal laaha kaana Ghafoorar Raheema
﴾107﴿ Wa laa tujaadil 'anil lazeena yakhtaanoona anfusahum; innal laaha laa yuhibbuman kaana khawwaanan aseemaa
﴾108﴿ Yastakhfoona minannaasi wa laa yastakh foona minal laahi wa huwa ma'ahum iz yubaiyitoona maa laa yardaa minal qawl; wa kaanal laahu bimaa ya'maloona muheetaa
﴾109﴿ Haaa antum haaa'ulaaa'i jaadaltum 'anhum fil hayaatid dunyaa famai yujaadilul laaha 'anhum Yawmal Qiyaamati am mai yakoonu 'alaihim wakeelaa

﴾106﴿ And seek forgiveness from Allah. Surely, Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.
﴾107﴿ And do not argue on behalf of those who deceive themselves. Surely, Allah does not love anyone who is exceedingly treacherous and sinful.
﴾108﴿ They conceal themselves from people, but they cannot conceal themselves from Allah, for He is with them when they hold secret meetings for what displeases Allah. And Allah encompasses all their actions.
﴾109﴿ Be aware, O people, you who argue on their behalf in the life of this world—who will argue with Allah on their behalf on the Day of Judgment, or who will take responsibility for them

[106] The prophets (peace be upon them) are protected from sins, whether minor or major. Seeking forgiveness does not imply sin; rather, it is an act of worship that even those who are protected from sin perform. So this address to the prophets (peace be upon them) is for the instruction of the community and for devotion. It also applies to actions that are not ideal, even if doing them is not sinful, as it is said: “The good deeds of the righteous are considered shortcomings for those who are close to Allah.” Or, the verse refers to seeking forgiveness for the betrayers when they repent.
[107] In the general address to the believers, it refers to those who betray by stealing or by false oaths, as the commentators have detailed in their explanations. The bad traits of the hypocrites are mentioned, and these verses allude to the incident of Tu’mah, which the commentators have described in detail, and to the support that the other hypocrites gave him through false oaths. (Exceedingly treacherous and sinful) points to both stealing and lying under oath.
[108] This is a warning to the hypocrites, mentioning three of their evils. (They conceal themselves) refers to hiding out of shame and embarrassment.
[109] This is also a warning to the hypocrites, and this verse is evidence that defending a criminal in order to save him from rightful punishment is not permissible.
