وَالْمُحْصَنَاتُ 175 النِّســاء

أُولَئِكَ الَّذِينَ لَعَنَهُمُ اللَّهُ وَمَنْ يَلْعَنِ اللَّهُ فَلَنْ تَجِدَ لَهُ نَصِيرًا ﴿۵۲﴾ أَمْ لَهُمْ نَصِيبٌ مِنَ الْمُلْكِ فَإِذًا لَا يُؤْتُونَ النَّاسَ نَقِيرًا ﴿۵۳﴾ أَمْ يَحْسُدُونَ النَّاسَ عَلَى مَا آتَاهُمُ اللَّهُ مِنْ فَضْلِهِ فَقَدْ آتَيْنَا آلَ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْكِتَابَ وَالْحِكْمَةَ وَآتَيْنَاهُمْ مُلْكًا عَظِيمًا ﴿۵۴﴾ فَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ آمَنَ بِهِ وَمِنْهُمْ مَنْ صَدَّ عَنْهُ وَكَفَى بِجَهَنَّمَ سَعِيرًا ﴿۵۵﴾

﴾52﴿ Ulaaa'ikal lazeena la'ana humul laahu wa mai yal'anil laahu falan tajida lahoo naseeraa
﴾53﴿ Am lahum naseebum minal mulki fa izal laa yu'toonan naasa naqeeraa
﴾54﴿ Am yahsudoonan naasa 'alaa maaa aataahumul laahu min fadlihee faqad aatainaaa Aala Ibraaheemal Kitaaba wal Hikmata wa aatainaahum mulkan 'azeemaa
﴾55﴿ Faminhum man aamana bihee wa minhum man sadda 'anh; wa kafaa bi Jahannama sa'eeraa

﴾52﴿ Those are the ones whom Allah has cursed, and whomever Allah curses, you will never find for him any helper.
﴾53﴿ Do they have any share of the kingdom? If they did, they would not give the people even as much as the speck on a date stone.
﴾54﴿ Do they envy the people (the believers) for what Allah has given them of His bounty? Indeed, We gave the family of Abraham (peace be upon him) the Scriptures and prophethood, and We granted them a great kingdom.
﴾55﴿ So among them are some who believed in it (in this favor), and among them are some who turned away from it.
And Hell is sufficient as a blazing fire.

[52] This is a warning of punishment.
And in this verse, one of their faults—being cursed—is mentioned.
In “Ulaika” (those), there is an indication that these previously mentioned actions are the reason for the curse.
[53] When, because of their previous evils, prophethood and kingship were transferred away from them, they were greatly displeased.
Therefore, in this verse, another reason for that is mentioned, and they are warned.
One of their faults—miserliness—is also pointed out here.
[54] Envy is to wish for the removal of blessings from others, and this is forbidden.
“Ghibtah” is to desire to have a blessing like what someone else has for oneself—without wishing for its removal from them.
In the noble hadith, it is mentioned that ghibtah is permitted in two cases: one, for a person of the Qur’an who acts upon it; and two, for a person who spends wealth rightly.
The meaning of the verse is that Allah granted these blessings to the family of Abraham (peace be upon him), and this Prophet (Muhammad) is also from that family, so why do you envy him?
“We gave them a great kingdom” refers to the kingship of Dawud and Sulayman (peace be upon them).
And in this verse, one of their faults is mentioned.
[55] This is a warning and threat concerning the Hereafter.
And it indicates that among them, two major groups have been formed.
The verb "sadda" can be used both transitively and intransitively; here, it is preferable to understand it as intransitive.
