الَّذِينَ يُنْفِقُونَ أَمْوَالَهُمْ بِاللَّيْلِ وَالنَّهَارِ سِرًّا وَعَلَانِيَةً فَلَهُمْ أَجْرُهُمْ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ وَلَا خَوْفٌ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا هُمْ يَحْزَنُونَ ﴿۲۷۴﴾ الَّذِينَ يَأْكُلُونَ الرِّبَا لَا يَقُومُونَ إِلَّا كَمَا يَقُومُ الَّذِي يَتَخَبَّطُهُ الشَّيْطَانُ مِنَ الْمَسِّ ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا إِنَّمَا الْبَيْعُ مِثْلُ الرِّبَا وَأَحَلَّ اللَّهُ الْبَيْعَ وَحَرَّمَ الرِّبَا فَمَنْ جَاءَهُ مَوْعِظَةٌ مِنْ رَبِّهِ فَانْتَهَى فَلَهُ مَا سَلَفَ وَأَمْرُهُ إِلَى اللَّهِ وَمَنْ عَادَ فَأُولَئِكَ أَصْحَابُ النَّارِ هُمْ فِيهَا خَالِدُونَ ﴿۲۷۵﴾
﴾274﴿ Allazeena yunfiqoona amwaalahum billaili wan nahaari sirranw wa 'alaaniyatan falahum ajruhum 'inda Rabbihim wa laa khawfun 'alaihim wa laa hum yahzanoon
﴾275﴿ Allazeena yaakuloonar ribaa laa yaqoomoona illaa kamaa yaqoomul lazee yatakhabbatuhush shaitaanu minal mass; zaalika bi annahum qaalooo innamal bai'u mislur ribaa; wa ahallal laahul bai'a wa harramar ribaa; faman jaaa'ahoo maw'izatum mir rabbihee fantahaa falahoo maa salafa wa amruhooo ilal laahi wa man 'aada fa ulaaa 'ika Ashaabun naari hum feehaa khaalidoon
﴾274﴿ Those who spend their wealth by night and by day, in secret and in public — for them is their reward with their Lord, and there shall be no fear upon them, nor shall they grieve.
﴾275﴿ Those who consume usury (interest) will not rise (from their graves) except as one rises who has been driven to madness by Satan’s touch — that is because they say, “Indeed, trade is just like usury.” But Allah has permitted trade and forbidden usury. So whoever receives an admonition from his Lord and refrains (from usury), then what has passed is his, and his affair is with Allah. But whoever returns (to it), those are the people of the Fire — they will abide therein forever.
[274] In this verse is the seventh statement — it mentions the general times of spending, meaning whether you spend at night or during the day, there is no need to designate a specific time for the reward, unlike the innovators who assign special occasions of their own, such as the night of Friday, the fortieth day, and the like.
[275] From this verse up to verse 283 is the third section, in which there is prohibition of usury, warnings, glad tidings, and guidance for financial dealings to ensure security and proper wealth management. In the verse about lending, it previously mentioned the one who spends in the way of Allah, and now it refers to the one who gives a loan not as charity but demands extra in the form of usury.
“Except as one rises who has been possessed by jinn” — meaning they will rise from their graves like madmen, as if jinn had seized them, and such a condition may even appear in this world. From this verse, scholars have proven that jinn can possess a human and influence their speech or body.
“Usury” refers to taking extra wealth from someone without giving anything in return, and many examples of it are found in Islamic law.
“They say trade is just like usury” — these people declare usury permissible and equate it with lawful trade, and this belief is disbelief.
“So for him is what has passed” — meaning whatever usurious wealth he took while in ignorance or disbelief, he is excused for it, and repayment is not demanded.
“His affair is with Allah” — in the future, his case is left to Allah, whether he refrains from usury or not.
