لَا يُحِبُّ اللَّهُ 231 المائدة

وَأَنِ احْكُمْ بَيْنَهُمْ بِمَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ وَلَا تَتَّبِعْ أَهْوَاءَهُمْ وَاحْذَرْهُمْ أَنْ يَفْتِنُوكَ عَنْ بَعْضِ مَا أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ إِلَيْكَ فَإِنْ تَوَلَّوْا فَاعْلَمْ أَنَّمَا يُرِيدُ اللَّهُ أَنْ يُصِيبَهُمْ بِبَعْضِ ذُنُوبِهِمْ وَإِنَّ كَثِيرًا مِنَ النَّاسِ لَفَاسِقُونَ ﴿۴۹﴾ أَفَحُكْمَ الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ يَبْغُونَ وَمَنْ أَحْسَنُ مِنَ اللَّهِ حُكْمًا لِقَوْمٍ يُوقِنُونَ ﴿۵۰﴾

﴾49﴿ Wa anih kum bainahum bimaaa anzalal laahu wa laa tattabi' ahwaaa'ahum wahzarhum ai yaftinooka 'am ba'di maaa anzalal laahu ilaika fa in tawallaw fa'lam annamaa yureedul laahu ai yuseebahum biba'di zunoobihim; wa inna kaseeram minan naasi lafaasiqoon
﴾50﴿ Afahukmal jaahiliyyati yabghoon; wa man ahsanu minal laahi hukmal liqawminy yooqinoon

﴾49﴿ (And He commands you) to judge between them by what Allah has revealed, and do not follow their desires, and beware of them lest they turn you away from some of what Allah has revealed to you. But if they turn away, then know that Allah intends to afflict them for some of their sins. And indeed, most people are defiantly disobedient.
﴾50﴿ Do they then seek the judgment of ignorance? And who is better than Allah as a judge for a people who are certain in faith

[49] This verse emphasizes the command to judge by the Qur’an: "And do not follow their desires"—in the previous verse, it referred to the desires of the common people, but here it refers specifically to the desires of corrupt scholars. "And beware of them, lest they tempt you"—this is a particular warning to the Prophet and, by extension, his followers, to be cautious of the schemes, deceptions, and manipulations of the Jews, Christians, and other corrupt scholars, regarding the command to judge by what Allah has revealed. "So know that Allah only intends..."—this clearly states that turning away from judgment by what Allah has revealed is a cause of punishment. "They are the defiantly disobedient"—here, it specifically points to the grave sin of turning away from the rulings of the Qur’an.
[50] This phrase is related either to "tawallaw" (they turned away) or to "al-fāsiqūn" by way of implied conjunction, meaning: "Do they turn away from the judgment of Allah, and then seek the judgment of ignorance?"—that is, "Are you turning away from the judgment of Allah and instead seeking the judgment of ignorance?" The "judgment of ignorance" refers to any judgment that contradicts the judgment of Allah, such as the Jews who would differentiate in legal rulings between strangers and the wealthy among them. As al-Qurtubi has affirmed, this also includes a person who discriminates among his children—giving something to some while depriving others. This kind of behavior has been called injustice in the Hadith.
