﴾148﴿ Fa aataahumul laahu sawaabad dunyaa wa husna sawaabil Aakhirah; wallaahu yuhibbul muhsineen
﴾149﴿ Yaaa 'aiyuhal lazeena aamanoo in tutee'ullazeena kafaroo yaruddookum 'alaaa a'qaabikum fatanqaliboo khaasireen
﴾150﴿ Balil laahu mawlaakum wa Huwa khairun naasireen
﴾151﴿ Sanulqee fee quloobil lazeena kafarur ru'ba bimaaa ashrakoo billaahi maa lam yunazzil bihee sultaana wa ma'wahumun Naar; wa bi'sa maswaz zaalimeen

﴾148﴿ So Allah granted them the reward of this world and the excellent reward of the Hereafter; and Allah loves those who do good.
﴾149﴿ O you who believe! If you obey the disbelievers, they will turn you back on your heels (away from faith), and you will become among the losers.
﴾150﴿ Rather, Allah is your Protector, and He is the best of helpers.
﴾151﴿ Surely, We will cast terror into the hearts of the disbelievers because they ascribed partners to Allah for which He has sent down no authority. Their abode will be the Fire, and evil is the place of residence for the polytheists.

[148] (مُحْسِنِينَ) refers to those who act with the belief in the Oneness of Allah (tawhid) and follow the Sunnah, and such action is called “good deed.” (ثَوَابَ الدُّنْيَا) refers to victory, dominance, and spoils of war as a result of striving (jihad).
[149] In this, there is reassurance of Allah’s protection and help when one remains steadfast upon the religion of Allah.
[150] In this, there is comfort in knowing Allah’s guardianship and help when one remains firm upon the religion of Allah.
[151] This is an example of Allah’s guardianship and help: even if the disbelievers are many and powerful, awe will be cast into their hearts—as happened after the Battle of Uhud, when the disbelievers intended to attack again, but due to fear, they retreated. The reason for this is shirk (associating partners with Allah). (مَا لَمْ يُنَزِّلْ بِهِ سُلْطَانًا) – here, it is indicated that proof revealed by Allah is required to establish anyone as a partner with Him, and there is no such evidence for shirk; what the ignorant mention are just dreams, imaginations, and the tales of their elders—such things cannot establish a religion. The difference between (مَأْوَى) and (مَثْوَى) is that ma’wā refers to a place one goes to, whether for residence or not, while mathwā means a place of residence and permanent stay.
