تِلْكَ الرُّسُلُ 123 آل عمران

هَا أَنْتُمْ هَؤُلَاءِ حَاجَجْتُمْ فِيمَا لَكُمْ بِهِ عِلْمٌ فَلِمَ تُحَاجُّونَ فِيمَا لَيْسَ لَكُمْ بِهِ عِلْمٌ وَاللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿۶۶﴾ مَا كَانَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ يَهُودِيًّا وَلَا نَصْرَانِيًّا وَلَكِنْ كَانَ حَنِيفًا مُسْلِمًا وَمَا كَانَ مِنَ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ﴿۶۷﴾ إِنَّ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِإِبْرَاهِيمَ لَلَّذِينَ اتَّبَعُوهُ وَهَذَا النَّبِيُّ وَالَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَاللَّهُ وَلِيُّ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ﴿۶۸﴾ وَدَّتْ طَائِفَةٌ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْكِتَابِ لَوْ يُضِلُّونَكُمْ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ إِلَّا أَنْفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ ﴿۶۹﴾ يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لِمَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِآيَاتِ اللَّهِ وَأَنْتُمْ تَشْهَدُونَ ﴿۷۰﴾ يَا أَهْلَ الْكِتَابِ لِمَ تَلْبِسُونَ الْحَقَّ بِالْبَاطِلِ وَتَكْتُمُونَ الْحَقَّ وَأَنْتُمْ تَعْلَمُونَ ﴿۷۱﴾

﴾66﴿ Haaa antum haaa'ulaaa'i haajajtum feemaa lakum bihee 'ilmun falima tuhaaajjoonaa feemaa laisa lakum bihee 'ilm; wallaahu ya'lamu wa antum laa ta'lamoon
﴾67﴿ Maa kaana Ibraaheemu Yahoodiyyanw wa laa Nasraa niyyanw wa laakin kaana Haneefam Muslimanw wa maa kaana minal mushrikeen
﴾68﴿ Innaa awlan naasi bi Ibraaheema lallazeenat taba 'oohu wa haazan nabiyyu wallazeena aamanoo; wallaahu waliyyul mu'mineen
﴾69﴿ Waddat taaa'ifatum min Ahlil Kitaabi law yudil loonakum wa maa yudilloona illaaa anfusahum wa maa yash'uroon
﴾70﴿ Yaaa Ahlal Kitaabi lima takfuroona bi Aayaatil laahi wa antum tash hadoon
﴾71﴿ Yaaa Ahalal Kitaabi lima talbisoonal haqqa bilbaatili wa taktumoonal haqqa wa antum ta'lamoon

﴾66﴿ Be aware, you are disputing about things of which you have some knowledge—so why do you dispute about matters of which you have no knowledge at all? Allah knows, and you do not know.
﴾67﴿ Abraham (peace be upon him) was neither a Jew nor a Christian, but rather a steadfast monotheist, and he was not among the polytheists.
﴾68﴿ Surely, the people most worthy of being associated with Abraham (peace be upon him) are those who followed him, and this Prophet, and the believers. And Allah is the Friend of the believers.
﴾69﴿ A group among the People of the Book wish to mislead you, but they only mislead themselves, and they do not realize it.
﴾70﴿ O People of the Book! Why do you disbelieve in the signs of Allah while you have knowledge
﴾71﴿ O People of the Book! Why do you mix the truth with falsehood and conceal the truth while you know

[66] In this, there is a warning.
Secondly, it is a refutation that your statements about Abraham (peace be upon him) are completely baseless.
(“Knowledge” as an indefinite noun in an affirmative statement means “some knowledge,” but in a negative context, it implies “no knowledge at all.”)
[67] In this verse is the fourth refutation against them.

[69] In this verse, their third evil is mentioned: teaching words of shirk (associating partners with Allah) and sin to the unlettered people (the common folk), presenting it as religion—this is a warning.
Similarly, this has been mentioned in verse 109 of Surah Al-Baqarah.
(“And they only mislead themselves”)—this is proof that whoever teaches another person words or beliefs of disbelief and shirk, he himself becomes a disbeliever and a polytheist.

[70] In this verse, their fourth evil is mentioned, and it serves as a warning.
Here, their disbelief in the Torah was that it contained verses about tawheed (the oneness of Allah) and the final Messenger, but they distorted its words and meanings, both verbally and in interpretation.
[71] In this statement, the fifth reprehensible action is mentioned along with a warning: when they spoke to the less knowledgeable or half-educated religious scholars, they would resort to deception (concealment) and cast doubt in their hearts; and when they spoke to the common people, they would hide the truth from them. These are the two ways they would mislead people.
